A consultation is a key part of a grooming
because it will benefit the dog, owner, and the groomer and provide a positive, safe, and comfortable experience. During a consultation, we may discuss the following:
- Pre-existing health conditions:
- Condition of the ears
- Condition of the eyes
- Condition of the nails
- Behavior concerns such as anxiety
- Skin and coat concerns
- Flea and tick removal
- Other important grooming details:
- Extra brushing for dematting and also deshedding
- Hairstyle
- Length of cut
- Estimate length of time for grooming
- Cost estimate
A cost estimate . . .
has a number of factors that are considered in determining the cost of a groom: size, behavior, coat condition, and the desired style. You will be provided a cost estimate after the initial consultation session.
Can I stay with my dog during the groom?
There is a need for Janice to develop a trust among your pet, and when it comes to grooming this happens best in a one-to-one relationship, groomer-to-dog. Some parents wish to stay during the groom and as a pet owner herself, Janice understands their deep caring and concern. But, having the parent present has the dog relying on the parent rather than building a trust with their groomer. Janice is skilled in understanding what dogs feel, so she can offer full service grooming in a stress-free, relaxing environment. Besides, the results are always a happy one because they are always so joyed when the parent returns to pick them up!
How long will the groom take?
Most grooms take about 2 hours to 2.5 hours. Time for you to run some errands, hang at Starbucks, maybe go back home if you live nearby, or try out these other local suggestions. Since this is a private home, there is not a waiting room. Janice will keep you informed on when to pick up your dog.
